FAREWELL NIGHT STALKER

I was saddened to learn that actor Darren McGavin passed away on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006--just three months short of his 84th birthday.

I've always loved his work in the Kolchak: the Night Stalker televison series & the holiday movie, The Christmas Story.

Last year, I had the pleasure of paying to tribute him when I was penciler on the comic book Kolchak: Tales of the Night Stalker.

The capturing of his essence in a comic book style characterization was my main objective, and I did my best to imbue my drawings of Kolchak with Darren's likeness.

He truly was a great actor, and his talent was largely responsible for making both the character of Carl Kolchak and the original TV series the enduring classic that it is to this day.

Rest in Peace, Darren.
